Users of Pitchbook may see some login issues or an “Invalid IP” error. To successfully login, make sure:
- You are logging in via the UBC Pitchbook site, not Pitchbook.com. The UBC Pitchbook site looks like the screenshot below.
- A ‘Invalid IP error’ is either caused by logging by the wrong page (Pitchbook.com instead of the UBC Pitchbook site) OR by a “bad” cookie. To get around the cookie issue, close your tabs and clear your cache and cookies (for all time).
If you already have an account and are denied login (e.g. “Access not authorized” or “Account Expired”), your account may have expired. Please create a new account using your same UBC email and your account will be reinstated. You need to create a new account via the UBC Pitchbook website NOT Pitchbook.com.

UBC Library is currently experiencing a disruption in access to our licensed electronic resources. We are investigating and working on a resolution to restore service.

We are currently seeing some issues with accessing CNKI eBooks.
A workaround is to use the old user interface. The connect to resource link on the CNKI eBooks resouce page has been updated.
eResources is continuing to investigate resolving the new interface access issues.

Summon is experiencing intermittent issues with searches failing to complete and displaying an “Application Error. Your search has failed to complete. Please try again.”
Other institutions are experiencing the same problem, and the Summon vendor is working on it.
Some workarounds for finding and accessing materials in the Library collection:
- use the “Books & Media” tab to search for books, videos
- use the “Indexes & Databases” tab to search directly in the databases
- use the Lean Library browser extension to check for UBC Library access when searching/browsing external sites: https://guides.library.ubc.ca/connect/ll

Update December 12, 2024: In addition to Criterion and Audio Cine, users may not be able to load streaming videos from Kanopy when using the Firefox browser on a UBC computer. Please use a different browser.
When using the Firefox browser, users may see a “Media unavailable: You don’t have permissions to view this media” error when they try to stream a video. This error is more likely when using a UBC computer. eResources is working on the issue.
As a workaround, please use a different browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari) to stream videos from Criterion or Audio Cine.

We are seeing an ongoing issue with resources that use EZProxy for access producing a 503 Service Error.
This includes resources like:
Pitchbook – https://resources.library.ubc.ca/page.php?details=pitchbook&id=2710
Passport – https://resources.library.ubc.ca/page.php?details=passport-gmid&id=572
Any resource that has ‘ezproxy’ in the URL to access it will be impacting by this issue.
We are working to get this resolved as fast as we can!
