UPDATE: As of June 24 morning, EBSCOhost databases seem to be back to normal.
EBSCOhost Databases were down earlier today
They appear to be back, but are very slow.
Stay tuned for any further updates.
Issue Resolved
There is an issue affecting certain Elsevier ScienceDirect journals.
While green ‘Full-Text Access’ icons may be displaying next to an article, the PDF Download functionality isn’t working correctly, and all users are confronted with a paywall. The Elsevier team is working on this issue and we hope to have an update for you soon.
A list of the known affected titles is below. Should you come across any other titles with this same issue, please report them to eResources Help.
Elsevier has a temporary workaround, in case any researchers need immediate access to an article.
Instead of clicking the “Download PDF” button, check the box next to the article and then select “Download selected articles”. That will give the option to open a zip file and then access the article.
Titles known to be affected:
* Science of the Total Environment
* Midwifery
* Journal of Molecular Biology
RESOLVED!
We have solved the problem with Passport. Please do the following:
1) clear all history (cache & cookies) from your browser (or if you know what you are doing, clear only the history/cookies related to Passport)
2) go to the Resource page & click on Connect to Resource and log into UBC’s EZproxy as usual.
==============
Passport GMID is leading from the CWL log-in screen to it’s own log-in page rather than into the resources.
We are looking into the problem.
Stay tuned.
Update: Access restored.
Access to all EBSCOhost databases
(Medline, Psycinfo, Cinahl etc.) is currently unavailable.
EBSCO engineering teams are investigating the issue.
We will provide updates on when access will be restored.
Issue resolved.
Linking at the journal title level to select titles within EBSCOhost’s Medline can lead to an error:
Error in HttpHandler
We are working on a solution.
Linking to the Database itself and then searching within the Database works fine. EBSCOhost Medline database level is HERE.
We have launched what we are calling OpenVersion in Summon.
These are open access versions of articles sourced through Unpaywall.
What does this mean? Unpaywall is a database of “freely available” versions of articles. Alumni, Community Users or anyone can click on the OpenVersion link when it appears and be taken to a version of the article without authenticating (no CWL or EZproxying needed). FAQs can be found here.
Note if citing the article that the Unpaywall version may differ from the final published version.
Due to the heavy traffic Wiley Online is experiencing from our off-campus server (EZproxy), they are occasionally blocking the IP address.
If you see an error like this on the Wiley site:
Please try the following:
If access problems continue, please report them to us via our Help Form with a screenshot, if possible, of the error message.
Hopefully, you are enjoying the movies from Audio Cine.
But if you have been getting a “400 Bad Request” error that says “cookie too large” and possible “nginx”, here is what you can do:

If you want to keep some cookies as you need them regularly, you can:
As always, use our Help Form to report problems.
