This will affect access to MyiLibrary, EBL (eBook Library), ebrary Bookshelf and any resources requiring EZproxy. For off campus access, use myVPN for now.

No CommentsEBSCO eBooks: Off-Line Downloading to End Temporarily
Posted on January 31, 2012 @1:58 pm by madgett
Currently, on the EBSCO eBook platform you can download ebooks off-line. Unfortunately, as the majority are single-user ebooks, this means no one else can access the ebook for 7 days. In order to make accessing fairer to all, we will be temporarily suspending off-line downloading on the EBSCO eBook platform later this week.
This move also brings EBSCO ebooks more into line with ebrary ebooks: single-user ebrary ebooks cannot be downloaded off-line either (multi-user ebooks on ebrary can).
The ability to download, email or print .pdf pages or sections (in most cases up to 60 pages) on EBSCO eBooks platform should not be affected.

No CommentsH.W. Wilson Databases have Moved to EBSCOhost
Posted on January 27, 2012 @1:40 pm by madgett
EBSCO has taken over the H.W. Wilson databases. These are primarily Education, Humanities, Social Science, Fine Art, Architecture and Law focused Index & Abstract databases —some with Full Text. As a result, the following Resource pages now point to EBSCOhost sites rather than H.W. Wilson sites:
Education Full Text
http://resources.library.ubc.ca/91
Education Index Retrospective: 1929-1983
http://resources.library.ubc.ca/1119
Index to Legal Periodicals and Books

Humanities & Social Sciences Index Retrospective: 1907-1984

Summon, the Citation Linker and the Catalogue will catch up to these changes over the next few days.
No CommentsSpringerLINK eBooks: 2012 Titles Not Available Yet
Posted on April 11, 2012 @9:49 am by madgett
*UPDATE* SpringerLink 2012 ebooks are now available!
Records for the 2012 SpringerLINK ebooks were added (our mistake) to the Catalogue and Summon before we had the access organized. In fact, due to higher-than-expected costs, it is probable that many 2012 SpringerLINK ebooks will not be purchased by the Library.
So, if you come across an ebook that is published by “Springer” and has a date of “2012” and you cannot get access to it, please still report it via out Help Form, but be aware that access may not be possible.
Sorry for any inconvenience and confusion this may cause.

*UPDATE 2* PROBLEM FIXED!! CINAHL Heading Searches should be working as expected.
*UPDATE* “We currently have a Critical Service Issue open and our technical team is working to address the CINAHL issues as soon as possible.“–EBSCO
The EBSCOhost database CINAHL [ Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature] is currently experiencing problems with Subject Heading searching. The vendor is aware of this and are working on it.

Posted on January 24, 2012 @12:00 pm by madgett
A few new online resources you might want to take a closer look at:
American National Biography Online: “…offers portraits of more than 18,700 men & women — from all eras and walks of life — whose lives have shaped the nation.” That would be the nation just south of us.
Films on Demand: “…Web-based digital video delivery service that allows you to view streaming videos from Films Media Group anytime.” Videos on everything from Opera to Ebola.
Mathematics Teaching: “…the journal of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics… Many articles have additional information or associated files.” Yep, it’s all about the math.
