Factiva: Excessive downloading incident
Posted on October 20, 2025 @11:46 am by John Park
Due to excessive downloading, Factiva may impose a temporary restriction on downloading to one article at a time.
Factiva has reported multiple sessions of excessive downloading including several sessions where over 10,000 articles were downloaded.
We are investigating.
Please remember that most resources have limits on what can be downloaded during one session. Almost all vendors have internal benchmarks that make allowances for reasonable use – usually what a person can reasonably read. For Factiva, our licensing allows for 100 articles to be accessed/read/downloaded in a single session.
No CommentseResources Short Staffed
Posted on September 29, 2025 @3:23 pm by ryan regier
At this time, the eResources team is experiencing a temporary staffing shortage. As a result, our capacity to address all inquiries is limited. We are currently prioritizing issues that are critical to academic continuity (e.g., support for student to completing coursework) or that affect a broader group of users. While we may not be able to immediately resolve more complex issues that impact only a small number of individuals, we will do our best to offer temporary workarounds where possible.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

MathSciNet has moved to a new system of authentication that is causing issues. eResources is investigating.
As a workaround, please access MathSciNet directly via the Library Resource Page instead of logging in via the website.
The Resource Page link is: https://resources.library.ubc.ca/page.php?details=mathscinet&id=36
No CommentsAccess to National Theatre Collection and Royal Shakespeare Collection videos now via Alexander Street
Posted on September 5, 2025 @9:05 am by ryan regier
Our access to National Theatre Collection (1 and 2) and Royal Shakespeare Collection is now via Alexander Street instead of Bloomsbury’s Drama Online.
This switchover happened more suddenly then we thought it would and the eResources team is working on changing the links.
In the meantime, to obtain access to these videos, please search for them at the below links:

No CommentsAccess Issues with AMS (American Mathematical Society) forcing users to login twice
Posted on June 26, 2025 @9:10 am by ryan regier
Users trying to access AMS (American Mathematical Society) books or journals are currently being forced to login twice to access content.
After logging in via the library website and landing on the AMS page, AMS will send users to a ‘Access through your institution” page when trying to access full text. If you search for “UBC” as your institution and login with your CWL you will gain access.
As a direct workaround to access or share an individual title, you can place this URL prefix in front of the AMS URL that you want to access: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/ubc.ca?url=
eResources is working with AMS to get this issue fixed ASAP.
