UBC Library eResources: Service Bulletins

eResources Christmas Schedule: lib-ejhelp / lib-elinkhelp

Posted on December 17, 2008 @1:54 pm by irobb

‘Tis the season for being elsewhere. And in that spirit, eResources is running away. There will be no help on the other end of lib-ejhelp nor lib-elinkhelp from Dec. 20th till Jan. 5th. But to make up for any hurt feelings this may cause, we promise to be extra helpful in the New Year. And we may even roll out a new service or two. Watch this Blog.
Enjoy the holidays!

SFX: Maintenance & Upgrade

Posted on December 17, 2008 @1:32 pm by irobb

On December 22nd & 23rd, SFX will be unavailable as we perform maintenance, updating and some system upgrading. This means that the yellow UBC eLink button will not work those days, nor will the Citation Linker. The links in the ejournal A-Z list will NOT be affected by this. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

VPN, RSVPN: But am I really connected?

Posted on December 8, 2008 @12:29 pm by irobb

A patron swears they are connected to VPN or RSVPN at home, but they still can’t access a database. To see if they are really connected, have them go to CMYIP (see my IP). The IP address for VPN should start 142.103…, RSVPN starts 128.189… Different numbers, NOT connected. Advise patrons to clear their browser’s cache & cookies (“Clear Private Data” in FireFox, “Internet Options” in IE), re-start the browser and set up VPN fresh or try RSVPN again.

Global Market Information Database **UPDATE LATEST**

Posted on December 4, 2008 @4:11 pm by irobb

Hazzah!

GMID is back in business. And, wait for it, the old error message problem seems to be cured as well.
Enjoy.

Previously…
Due to issues with the EZproxy server, GMID will likely not be available till Wednesday, Dec. 10. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please watch for further updates.

Previously…
The GMID is currently unavailable. Attempts to access lead to a log-in screen asking for a password. Your Library card number should normally by-pass this screen and take you to the familiar “I Agree” button. The problem may be a hold-over from past issues or a result of the EZproxy being down. We are looking into it. Stay tuned.

EZproxy & Links to Print Journals **BACK UP**

Posted on December 3, 2008 @3:39 pm by irobb

The links are back and working from the A-Z ejournal list, the eLink menu, Catalogue Quick Search journal box, etc. EZ proxy is mostly working (see GMID posting).

Previously…
Folks, as you may have seen from the Library Home page:

“Two Library servers will undergo maintenance on Wednesday, Dec 03 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. During this time, access to applications such as the New Materials website, the Chung Collection Inventory, the Media Booking and Course Reserves forms, and EZPROXY rewriting proxy service will be unavailable.”

As well, links from the A-Z ejournal list to print records are not working and searching from the “Journal/Ejournal” box on the Catalogue page is not working. (Searching in the Catalogue itself works). Let’s hope this is all resolved by 6:00pm as promised.

RSVPN re-boot

Posted on December 1, 2008 @10:50 am by irobb

FYI:

“RSVPN failover unit will be rebooted twice, during the following windows:
Friday December 5th, 6-8am
Saturday December 6th, 6-8am
It is very unlikely that this will affect the RSVPN service…”

Uh huh. But be aware, just in case.

SAGE Journals – full archive not available

Posted on April 19, 2013 @10:16 pm by madgett

Our access to SAGE Journals content has recently changed.
Until recently, we enjoyed access to the complete backfile for all SAGE journal titles. This has now been restricted to start with access from 1999. We continue to have access to the complete backfile for all titles that are part of the Full-Text Collections on both the SAGE Journals Online and CSA Illumina platforms.

Our CRKN contract with SAGE is currently in negotiation with the publisher and options for access to all SAGE journal content are being explored.
